The main aim of the chapter is to provide a comprehensive overview of the legal aspects of the intellectual property, with the emphasis on the commercial law and related legal branches. The chapter consists of three parts: general aspects of the legislation on the protection of intellectual property rights in the Slovak Republic and in the European Union, industrial rights and the legislation on the audiovisual sector. Each part comprises the overview of the respective legislation in the Slovak republic with the analysis of selected relevant legal aspects. The author also pays attention to the most important directives of the European law.
